The reasons I blog

"They say a written word never dies. That's a consoling thought because maybe later on these words I've written will live on."

(An excerpt from Cecilia Manguerra Brainard's Diary, August 15, 1963)

Today is September 16 and what’s special about this date? Well, this is the date I started blogging. Yes, it was September 16, 2006 so I’ve been blogging for two years now. Even though I feel tired, stressed and really worn out, I experience relaxation every time I face this laptop computer and express my heart out. Thanks to Citizen Journalism!!

Of course there are dangers in telling the cyber world citizens about my personal life, I still blog though and that is because I want to document my life. Below are my four specific reasons why I love blogging:

1.To update my friends what’s happening in my life

I have friends around the globe, friends who are currently living, working, studying in different countries. Thank God for the internet coz because of this, we can update each other’s lives. Yes, we chat, we send messages but sometimes, schedules won’t permit it so you better blog it. Thru blogs, I get to share whatever experiences I had experienced. Whatever good feeling I’ve felt, what I am up to, basically, everything that’s happening to me. It feels good if they write comments, but even if they didn’t, it’s nice to see their headshots because they viewed my latest photo and blog entry. I know you felt this thing. Hehe

2. To inspire other people

I love, admire and salute those people who inspire other people. I am one of their products!! Yes, I lived all my life, my childhood days, my teenage years, my youth days full of inspiration and maybe that’s the reason why I want to be like them. I believe that life is never perfect or else we’ll stop learning. And this blog of mine exists because I want to bring inspiration to everyone. I want every person who visits my site to be blessed, happy, fulfilled and inspired. I pray that I somehow bring a little inspiration to every person who visits my site. May each of them see the beauty and abundance of life, just the way I see it.

3. To share great ideas, lessons learned, wonderful insights and the funny side of life

I believe in the Biblical principle of sowing and reaping. Each of us will reap what we have sown. Book sharing, movie sharing, insightful quotations sharing, everything I know, I just want to share it! As I share knowledge, I know I’ll reap knowledge too. I share my travel experiences, the funny memories I got, honestly, everything! I find pleasure in sharing those stuff. At the end of the day, I am thankful coz I’ve gained as much as I’ve given out.

4. To write a love letter for my future children

Sooner or later, I’ll get married. (Sure naman yun! Hehe) I’ll have my own family and for sure, I’ll be a story-teller to my future kids. So before I forget the details of everything that I’ve experienced, I need to make it sure that I stored it in my multiply site. I want my future children to know what their mother thinks when she was young. I want them to be informed of the good old days. I want them to know the books I’ve read, the movies I’ve watched, the places I’ve visited, the people I’ve met, the issues and the topics that caught my attention as a young person, all these in my generation. I find it a wise thing coz sometimes, I tend to forget things, that’s weird but it happens.

I believe that a person has to know the objectives before doing things. Like, why you go to this university, why you study, why you take that course, why you make friends with this person, why you allow this guy to treat you special, etc, etc. Before, I started blogging, I made it sure that I know my reasons why I blog. I want to be responsible of whatever I put out on the internet and I don’t want to dispense negative energy into the cyber world. I made it sure that I’m happy and not problematic every time I face this laptop. Thank God for the happiness that He’s giving me coz I am most of the time happy.

Now to my blogger friends, or even my online buddies, I challenge you to put just good stuff in your blogs, never put down people or you might get hurt by it as well, never to tell a lie or you might get disrespect and again remember this Biblical principle: You will reap what you sow.
