The Mercy of God...

Few days left in college…

To be specific three days na lang…

Hay…

After that, a new chapter of my life again.

New relationships, new skills, new learnings, new experiences, new places…halos lahat bago. Nakakaiyak man pero ganun talaga, I have to remind myself again and again that it’s part of life.

A while ago I was meditating Proverbs 11:28, it says “a life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree.” Tama talaga sa puso ko. I had a lot of realizations today. Fresh na fresh. I know that life is beautiful. Hoorah! Sa lahat ng challenges that I’ve been through since childhood days, I’ve focused more on the positive side and I’m very thankful to God for teaching me that. His mercy is great!

What do I really want to be?

What should I do for the rest of my life?

What are my goals, my dreams for my future?

Yes I definitely know the answers. Pero yun na ba talaga yun? Hehe. I know what I want, I know what I should do, I know my goals, my dreams for my future pero minsan nakakabahala kasi hindi mo alam if you are on the right track. Hay, ang daming questions…yan lang nasa isip ko today. Since this is my online journal, I can write it. So far, I am confident with life because I have Him. Pero minsan, the human side in me kicks in kaya kinakabahan.

I really believe that…

Without God life makes no sense.

Enjoy living!!

A love story

It’s been a month since the whole world celebrated the Valentines day. Anyway, we shouldn’t celebrate it just for a day, I mean, everyday, we should give love, spread the love and be in live. Why am I telling this?? It’s all because of that National Geographic Magazine article I’ve read recently. Though it’s a June 2003 issue, it’s still worth reading.

Below is the article:

…With a Honey of a Pair

When Rachel Anderson, then 13, was featured in a May 1993 Geographic article about her family’s life as traveling beekeepers, a friend teased her: “Some guy will read this, come to work with you, and fall in love with you.” Meanwhile in Oklahoma, Melody Drake saw the story and pointed it out to her 13-year0old son, Richard, who was interested in bees and have been begging for a hive in his own. “Look,” she told him, “these beekeepers have a daughter your age.”

Sure enough, Rachel and Richard both ended up at Weimar College, a tiny Seventh-day Adventist school in California. She mentioned that she was a beekeeper’s daughter-“it’s a great conversation starter,” she says. “Later his mother said to him, ‘I bet she’s that girl form the National Geographic article.’ ” Richard and Rachel began dating, and he eventually did work for her father, tending the family bees. Things took their natural course, and the two were married on April 8, 2001.

Their picture:

If both of you are meant to be, kayo talaga! So don't be hasty. Right time will come^_^ Anyway, kakakilig pa rin.

Song of Songs 3:5

“Do not awaken love until the time is right.”

WAKE UP WORLD!

I was stunned after opening the Yahoo website last Wednesday (March 7). Instead of checking my yahoo mail, a statement caught my attention and it states: Dollar Coins Missing ‘InGod We Trust.’ Of course, I read the article.

After reading it, I remember the book When Life Gets Tough by Henry Gariepy which I read two years ago. A friend gave it to me and it’s a must read book especially in this times. The author mentioned the symbol of arrogance found in the epigram carved over a doorway on the Titanic which is “Not even God can sink this ship.” I definitely agree with Henry when he said that its blasphemy still rots at the bottom of the Atlantic. This precious information I got after reading the book never left me that’s why I keep on sharing it to some friends until a friend told me that the reason why Amricans are very prosperous is because they trust God, this is proven by the inscription in their dollar “In God We Trust.” She told me that two years ago, year 2005.

But what happened?? What if George Washington is still alive?? It’s just a thought. Since this God-fearing and accomplished president declared that it is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible, how can a leader govern without His guidance. (Sigh)

We definitely need God especially in this times. George Washington believed on it, why can’t we??

Psalm 10:4

In his pride the wicked does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

Quote of the Year!

I’ve been keeping a quote in my phone for almost a year now. My highschool friend Khatt forwarded the message to me last March 28, 2006. Oh come on, it’s already March 2007 and the quote is still as fresh as the morning of everyday. Haha!

The quote:

If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you are always on the same place. Take risks for life goes on.

Now, you know why I’ve been saving it (“,)

Good day!

MANNERS PLEASE...

After my Nihongo class, I immediately went to St. Paul’s dormitory. Any idea what I did?? Haha, believe it or not. I am very much fascinated with the posting on the wall beside the dorm’s entrance. It’s all about MANNERS. Everytime I pass by in that area, since my first year in St. Paul, I get to read at least five manners posted in the wall. So, since I have few days left in school, I copied the half manners posted with the help of my keitai (phone). The rest, do your own search! Haha ^_^

Once again, I was reminded of my childhood days. I have to have manners. With all the education we get, if we don’t have manners, we are actually uneducated. This is only my opinion since for me the purpose of education is learning.

So, these are the manners I copied, read and reread it then evaluate yourself. I just did.

Greet everone you see with a smile
Use sir or mom as a sign of respect
It is impolite to bang the door, close it gently
Don’t remove shoes in public
Give respect to Manangs and Manongs
Let the lady or the elderly pass first
Use pedestrian lane and do not trespas
Always keep right in climbing the stairs
Gentleman open the door first before the ladies
Return what you borrowed on time and on the exact place where you found it
Before you get someone else’s things, ask permission
Don’t set your cell phone ringers too loud especially if you are in oublic
Do not eat while watching or listening to a program
Say please pass when asking something on the table
Join the games and activities in store for a party
Don’t pick flowers on prohibited places such as parks, gardens, etc.
Don’t forget to say thank you when someone helped or did a favor to you
When walking, don’t make too much noise by dragging your shoes
Avoid noise while chewing also don’t talk when your mouth is full
Don’t talk too loud in a library, there are people who need silence while studying
When looking for someone, say may I speak with, greet them good morning, good afternoon and good evening
It is also impolite to shout the person’s name being looked for by the caller
Eating is not allowed inside a church. It is impolite to eat while praying
Whispering or murmuring unnecessarily should be avoided
Avoid shouting or howling when you find the presentation amusing
Avoid leaving the auditorium or the conference hall while the speaker is leaving
When intorduced it is polite to offer your hand for a handshake
Respect the one sleeping, don’t make too much noise
Don’t forget to say please or kindly when asking favor
Don’t make any noise on your plate while eating especially when cutting your meet or scooping out your food
Don’t let the person who is calling hang in the phone too long especially if s/he is in the second line or in call waiting
Dress appropriately. Avoid dressing haltered blouse, short skirts or dresses. Remember that it is a house of God and not a party
If you have an important call on your cellphone, excuse yourself and move away from the people you are talking to
Don’t block the way. Give enough space for the people to pass or walk when you are in corridors or halls
When crossing the street or walking in the street, the ladies are often in the right side of the street
Clean your mess when and organize your things especially when you are sharing rooms. This shows respect on the person.
Talk in a moderate voice when talking with somebody especially when youa re near with each other.
When the person is not around inform the caller immediately and ask for any message, contact number and reason for calling and also his complete name.

Looking back

My Practicum Days

This was 9 months ago (2 months to go and it’s anniversary) and I am still excited every time I look back at my practicum days.

I can proudly say that I’ve learned a lot during my training. Going out in fields for news gathering, whether it’s sports, police or senate beat, those were unforgettable! I've met a lot of people and I have fallen in love with them. It made me realized that two days are never the same and that there are lots of things that could possibly happen within a day. Those memories that I have will always be in my mind and in my heart. Those people who touched my life during my training will never be forgotten. Kuya Jerry, Ate Mitch, Kuya Edward, Ms. Vicky, Ms. Mackay, Ms. Laarni, Kuya Ernie and Kuya Pao. All of you have contributed a lot to me as a person. Again and again, I thank all of you for the training!!

PRACTICAL LESSONS I'VE LEARNED DURING MY INTERNSHIP:

Tibay ng loob

Tatag ng sikmura (This is because sometimes you won’t eat on time.)

Kapal ng mukha

Treat yourself as a reporter and not a trainee

Focus is a must!

Move fast, whether you are assisting the PA or your boss commanded you something.

Comprehension is vital especially in making news.

Respect people and their time.

Dress appropriately in every event. When you are in Senate, you have to wear formal attire while if your beat is Sports, pants and sneakers will do.

Speak well.

Don’t be shy to ask questions.

Be friendly.

Have initiative.

Go for the best angle of the news.

Look for the 'good' in every news.

ICEBERGS STORY ^_^

Everytime I hear ICEBERGS,
I remember one of the best movies ever made and one of my favorites which is Titanic.
Haha, but this is not the Iceberg I’m talking about. It’s an ice cream store.
(Sigh) SARAP!!

I’m not the person who’s obsessed of ice cream
but for the sake of eating especially we’re into summer season...“Sige na nga.”

Joy, Marc and I went to CCP last Tuesday for a free film showing.
Since we encountered a dilemma,
we just went to Icebergs and spend the night there chatting, talking, eating and chatting again. We see the moment as our last night together (exclusively us, the three of us)
since Joy is leaving within three days to have her practicum in Baltimore.
I’ll surely miss her.
I just wanna document the moment through some shots I’ve taken from my phone.
Sige na Joy, ikaw na bida dito.
The food we ordered...

Shrimp and Mushroom Pomorodo

(A spaghetti pasta tossed in shrimp, mushroom, garlic and tomatoes. An ICEBERGS' favorite!)

Hungarian Sausage and Mushroom Carbonara

(Fettuccine pasta tossed in hungarian sausage, mushroom and ICEBERGS' garlic cream sauce.)

Picture muna for documentation.

Shocked with the desserts??

Mais con hielo lang naman yan ah. Hmm?

Ito ang the best, Mango Tango!

Iba talaga ang pinagsamahan natin.
WE'LL MISS YOU, JOY!
After eating...
We've been through a lot. We are stronger than ever.

My message to you Joy: Learn, Grow, Mature as you ventured to your dream. Make your family, country and God be proud of you! I love you!!

Lola's message to you: "Gumising ka ng maaga!" (command pala 'to ^_^)

BON VOYAGE!!

Family time

"Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children."
(Proverbs 17:6)

It has been my goal to go out again with my family. Thank God for the free time that He gave! After finishing some of the requirements and of course the defense, I was able to accomplish my goal.

It was two weeks ago when we went to the Mall of Asia. I won’t be shy to share that it was my lola’s first time to enter the building since it has opened. Though it’s a bit hassle for the three of us to bring her to the mall for some reasons, we did not hesitate.

It was one of the best experiences! Medyo nagdrama lang naman ako ng konti sa lola ko. I told her how thankful I am in having her as my lola and at the same time assured her that wherever we are in life (Lamsen siblings) of course, she’ll be there too. Medyo naiyak naman siya which she always does. Hehe

Sobrang sarap lang talaga mabuhay ng kasama ang family. Hindi ko alam pero walang makakapantay sa mga pagmamahal na ibinibigay nila everyday. God has blessed me with so much and I can testify na sa lahat ng blessings na nareceive ko, my family is the greatest and I really thank God for that!

My wealth, Marc and Joy (I love you!)

Ang nagpalaki, nag-aruga at nagmulat sa’kin sa mundo…my very own lola.
La, bored ka na ba??

Candlelight 2006

It's been a family tradition to attend the candlelight communion in COP. From my childhood days hanggang ngayon, inaabangan talaga ng buong pamilya.

Maybe the reason why we like attending Candlelight is the different aura of COP but it's not actually that. Every time we are in the Candlelight, it feels good. We were again reminded how good God is of sending His love thru the birth of Jesus Christ. That 's the spiritual side. On the practical side, reunion kasi yun where in kita-kita na naman and just spending time with each other and for me, hay...syempre, THE FOOD! Haha...can't wait for this year's Candlelight!!

Traveling

View from Shaw Towers

View from Singapore's National Library
The Fountain of Wealth...

What an excellent view!!

With the life I have right now (this 21 years of existence), I am happy and contented. Though I haven’t travel a lot which I wanna do and one of the reasons I am living, I am complacent and satisfied. As I hear stories of people traveling around the globe, I am mesmerized! (The only reason is because they have the money to spend) To us pinoys, we love "libre," the best thing in life!! hehe

Anyway, why am I telling all this?? Arr

Ay, I knew it, I wanna share the reasons why I wanted to travel. You know, we should have a reason, a sense of purpose or for formality’s sake, objectives why we wanna do things so that we do not waste time. We just have good reasons why we do it and passionate about it.

Below are my reasons:

1. I wanna witness the beauty of every place. (The natural beauty and even the modern one. The mountains, flowers, the buildings, libraries, museums *sigh* all those!!)

2. I wanna observe the life, culture, language, tradition, industry, leadership of a certain place. (Grabeh no! Observe and then adapt)

3. I wanna talk and meet different kinds of people, different races and nationalities. (This reason was given birth after reading a quote in Bras Basah, Singapore-a book place, the quote said, There are no strangers in this world, only friends we have yet to meet.)

Now I’ve given you my 3 ultimate reasons why I love traveling. A thrifty person like me should know the reason of doing things. Make the most of every place. Hoorah!!
